Catch Reports 2021

Latest catch reports from Lac Serreire and Badgers Holt.

20 to 27 November

Well thats the season over for another year with Dan our final Badgers Holt angler ending his week with two carp to 40lb 4oz.

Now its time to get the winter improvements completed!

13 to 20 November

Simon was our penultimate guest on Badgers Holt.

Bright days and overnight frosts kept water temperatures below 8 degrees making the fishing tricky.

Despite this Simon still managed to end the week with two carp of 48lb 8oz and 38lb 10oz.

Well done Simon.

30 October to 6 November

First time visitors Eddie and Rusty were this weeks guests on Badgers Holt.  Fishing pop-ups over house particle and the Serreire Crayfish and Squid they ended their week with 4 carp to 59lb.

This was a very good week considering 50mm of rain fell in just two days midweek which always makes the fishing tricky.

Their catches included 2 x 50s of 59lb and 50lb, and both a 40 and a 30.  All carp were well up in weight with the common being yet another new 50!

Well done on a good week and see you again in 2023.

23 to 30 October

A much better week on Badgers Holt for Steve and Rob who finished with 10 carp from 12 bites.

Their haul included 2 x 60s of 63lb 9oz (big common) and 60lb 12oz, 4 x 40s to 44lb 7oz, 2 x 30s to 36lb 8oz and a couple of 20s.

Pop-ups and wafters over targeted areas of boilies and house particle was the winning formula.

Congratulations on a very good week and see you again in 2024.

16 to 23 October

Another week of bright days and cold nights with a torrential downpour midweek making fishing again tricky.

Unfortunately Wayne and Mick despite their best efforts ended their week on Badgers Holt without a fish.

Over on Serreire fishing was consistent with 24 carp over the week to 47lb.

Dave and Darren in Woods shared 16 fish including 4 x 40s to 47lb and 9 x 30s to 37lb.

Shaun in Middles had 4 x 30s to 39lb and Steven in Shallows also had 4 to 37lb.

Thank you for all being great guests and see you next year.

9 to 16 October

Regular Mike was the only angler on the complex this week fishing Badgers Holt.

He contended with highs of 19 degrees during the day, cold nights and morning frosts all making the fishing tricky.  Despite this Mike ended the week with 2 x 50s, both mirrors of 58lb 8oz and 54lb.

Mike used his own baits fished over Coppens pellet and house particle.

Well done Mike and see you again next year.

2 to 9 October

An improved week across the complex with 39 carp to 62lb 7oz.

Alex and Tim on Badgers Holt finished their week with 5 carp including the ‘Big Common’ at 62lb 7oz and a new 60lb mirror for the lake weighing 62lb.  They also managed a 50 of 52lb 15oz and 2 x 40s of 48lb 8oz and 42lb giving them an average weight of over 53lb!

Over on Serreire the cold night time temeratures and northerly winds kept much of the stock in front of Woods swim making fishing difficult elsewhere.

As a result Mark and Darren who were doubled up on Woods ended the week with 31 carp including 6 x 40s to 45lb 12oz and 20 x 30s to 39lb 12oz but unfortunately lost a few due to hook pulls.

Steve in Tim and Mary’s had one mirror of 36lb and Leon in Shallows despite losing a couple managed 2 x 30s to 38lb 5oz.

All anglers used a combination of their own baits together with the Serreire Peach and Pepper, Coconut Crem and Shellfish over house particle.

25 September to 2 October

A tough week across the complex with only 18 carp landed to 57lb 8oz.

High pressure, cold nights, torrential rain and biblical storms reduced the water temperature by over 4 degrees during the course of the week which no doubt had an effect.

Pete and Louis on Badgers Holt despite a couple of losses managed three with two mirrors of 57lb 8oz and 42lb 6oz as well as a low thirty.

Over on Serreire Jason was top rod fishing Woods with ten carp including 3 x 40s to 44lb.  Daz in Middles had two to 37lb 6oz and Ricky on Island caught three to low thirties.

All anglers used a combination of Serreire Peach and Pepper, Crayfish and Squid and Shellfish boilie in conjunction with Coppens pellet and house particle.

18 to 25 September

First time visitors Mike and Chris made the journey to Badgers Holt this week and finished their week with 10 carp.

Their haul included 1 x 60 to 64lb 8oz, 1 x 50 of 56lb 2oz, 4 x 40s including ‘Patch’ to 48lb 8oz with the balance of 30s.

Both anglers used the Serreire Fenspice Peach and Pepper boilie in combination with Coppens pellet and house particle.

Congratulations on an excellent first time visit.

28 August to 11 September

Regulars Daniel and Michelle returned to Badgers Holt for a two week session.  During their fortnight they endured various weather conditions from bright sunshine to torrential downpours.  It was during the periods of low pressure that the lake came alive and Dan received multiple takes!

With a heavy baiting approach using House Coconut Creme and Fenspice Peach and Pepper boilie Dan and Michelle ended their session with 11 carp.  Their haul included the big common at 63lb 9oz, 2 x fifties to 53lb 6oz, 5 x forties to 49lb 8oz and three upper thirties with an average of46lb.  Congratulations and see you again in November.

Serreire kicks off in style!

The opening week of the new Lac Serreire did not disappoint with a total of 89 carp caught by the three anglers!

Iain in Middles caught 39,his biggest being a 41lb 8oz common together with 20 x 30s.

Steve in Tim and Mary’s caught 36 with 2 x 40s to 46lb and 25 x 30s to 38lb.

Marc in Island finished his week with 14 to 38lb, his haul included 12 x 30s.

Successful tactics were a combination of pop-ups, bottom baits and wafters fished over house Coconut Creme and Shellfish boilies, Coppens pellet and house mixed particle.

Congratulations on a very busy week!

7 to 14 August

Merv and Chris were up against less than ideal weather conditions with high pressure for the majority of the week which made the fishing tricky on Badgers Holt.

Despite this Merv managed three carp with two mirrors to 49lb and a common of 51lb 8oz.  Unfortunately he lost a lump on his last morning.

Successful tactics were wafters fished over his own boilies, Coppens pellet and house particle.

Well done Merv, certainly a couple of special fish.

26 July to 4 August

What a dream session!

Mitch and Dave enjoyed a session of a lifetime on Badgers Holt and have now returned home for a rest!

Their haul of 26 fish included 4 x 60s to 65lb 2oz, 7 x 50s to 55lb, 6 x 40s to 49lb 12oz with the balance of thirties and a couple of high twenties.  Also not forgetting ‘Arthur’ the cat who weighed in at an impressive 82lb 6oz!!!

Successful tactics were Baitroom pop-ups fished over large beds of Serreire Crayfish and Squid and Lobster Red house boilie, Coppens pellet and house particle.

Congratulations to you both on an amazing session.

30 May to 5 June

Our first anglers of the year were Peter and his good lady Angie who not having the best of weather conditions ended the week with a respectable 5 carp.  Their haul included one thirty of 39lb, three forties of 45lb, 47lb and 48lb and a best mirror or 54lb.

Peter and Angie used the house boilie fished over Coppens pellet and house particle.
