Catch Report 25th November – 2nd December 2017:

Badgers Holt – Weather conditions were quite extreme with -5C to -6C during most of the nights, north easterly winds, high pressure to 1030mbar and, later in the week, heavy snowfall ending with the lake freezing solid. But as a fan of winter fishing, I couldn’t resist the challenge of course.

I managed 9 carp including 3 x 50s, 5 x 40s & 1 x 30; the weights being 58lb, 54lb, 50lb, 48lb, 45lb, 44lb, 43lb, 41lb & 34lb. At one point, a double take resulted in two fish on at once and a few mad minutes until they were both safely in the nets. These two fish were mirrors of 54lb and 50lb and I think this was the first time in my fishing life that I have ever managed to have two fifties on at the same time – Magical moment.

By the end of the week, the water temperature had dropped to 3.2C as the lakes froze over.

All fish were caught on single Serreire Crayfish & Squid wafters fished over catapulted matching freebies and 10mm Coppens pellets. Rigs were the ever faithful MCF clips, 1oz DSG leads and wide gape barbless size 6 hooks. Rigs were cast into position to enable them to be felt down for a good drop on the spots. Only two rods were fished to keep lines and disturbance to a minimum and I’m happy to leave them until a bite or 72 hours have passed at this time of year, so long as I’m confident about the spots. My view is that every time a rod is re-cast or re-positioned, it reduces the chances instead of the common belief that it might increase them.

Two spots produced all the bites and the furthest one out was about 5 rod lengths from the cabin bank. The most important factor was probably finding the spots which took about 5 hours of leading around on the first day combined with a single fish that rolled around 2am on the first night (a bit closer than I was fishing) and a few liners on the rod that was initially just past this spot.

Lac Serreire – Was lightly fed a week ago and then not fished all week.

Catch Report 18th – 25th November 2017:

Lac Serreire – Week of the commons….

A great week for Thomas in the Shallows swim with 10 carp landed including two 50s; a 51lb mirror and a 51lb 12oz common. Thomas also included mirrors of 48lb and 41lb. All the fish were caught on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid wafters fished over matching freebies. Also on the left bank, Dave had a great result at the end of the week landing about 5 fish including a brace of mid-40s on the last night. One of these fish was a truly stunning huge framed 45lb common – definitely one to watch for the future. Dave’s fish also came to Serreire Crayfish & Squid wafters fished over Fenspice freebies. In the Outflow swim, Martin landed a huge mirror of 58lb 4oz. This fish was last out in the summer at 50lb 1oz; another big framed long fish that is clearly packing the weight on. In the Woods swim Ellis landed a number of fish including a PB mirror of 41lb.

Many people are nervous of fishing this late in the year, but in fact Serreire almost always fishes well in the colder conditions and the chances of the bigger fish seem to be even higher. The condition of the fish and their cold-water colours makes it even more special. As always, location and using an established bait are the keys to catching them.

Badgers Holt – Despite trying various tactics and baits, unfortunately no carp were caught.

Catch Report 11th – 18th November 2017:

Lac Serreire – Jamie had a good week in the Middle swim landing 6 carp including 4 x 40s with the best fish being a cracking 49lb mirror. In the Outflow swim Mike had a 50lb 15oz mirror fishing at close range to the left side. In the Woods swim Marco and Jan had a great week ending up with a brace of 50s on their last night and a 48lb common mid-week along with a couple of 30s. Neil also had a mid-30 on the last night.

Badgers Holt – Wim landed one of the most difficult carp on the complex to catch, a fish we have called ‘The Pretty Mirror’ around mid-20s in weight – Only it’s second ever recorded capture as far as we are aware. A lovely carp and one to watch for the future.

Some very mild weather for November is forecast during the week ahead, so it’s looking good for a few more carp over the next days.

Catch Report 4th – 11th November 2017:

Badgers Holt – Ben and Brett completed their session with a total of 7 carp of; 55lb, 53lb, 53lb, 53lb, 51lb, 50lb and 39lb. Six fifties out of seven fish was a great result, especially considering the cold conditions. The fish were caught on a mixture of fishmeal boilies and pellets and all from the central areas of the lake that were consistently fished and baited throughout the session. Nice results guys!

Lac Serreire – Andrea and Darren fished the Woods swim and landed a number of carp to low forties. The fish were all caught at casting range and mainly on the right side of the swim. Over in the Outflow swim, Gary had fish to 47lb fishing close in to the left and in the Shallows swim Steve and Lisa had four fish to just over 30lb.

The weather has warmed up this week so conditions look good for a few fish over the next days.

Catch Report 28th October – 4th November 2017:

Lac Serreire – Great group of old school anglers fished the lake for the first time. Chris in the Woods swim had the most fish with the best being around 58lb, 48lb, 48lb, 43lb & 42lb. All carp caught were simply returned without the added stress of having photos done. A couple were netted from a boat due to becoming snagged and these were simply released rather than putting them through the process of rowing them back to the swim for a weighing and photo session. As the whole group said, to them, photos are of little importance.

Badgers Holt – Ben and Brett completed the first week of a two week session. So far they have landed 3 carp of 55lb, 50lb and 39lb. The fish have been very active with lots of fizzing and showing, so there should be more fish to come during the week ahead. Congrats on the PB Brett!

Catch Report 21st – 28th October 2017:

Lac Serreire – Andy had a great first week ever on the complex landing 8 carp from the Woods swim. His first fish was a 63lb PB mirror!! Congrats Andy! Over on the left bank, Dave had 5 carp with the best being a 55lb 10oz mirror. And in the Shallows, Nigel had 9 fish to 48lb 5oz. Dave’s and Nigel’s fish were caught using a combination of Nutrabaits Trigga and Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies.

Thanks Andy for all the fantastic photos from the week!! Really impressive.

Badgers Holt – The carp proved very tricky and despite loads of shows and activity, no fish were caught.

This week has started well with fish to 43lb already out from Lac Serreire and 55lb from Badgers Holt.

Catch Report 14th – 21st October 2017:

Lac Serreire – It was great to welcome Rod Hutchinson, Tim Paisley and friends to the complex. A very enjoyable week was had by all.

Mark had a good first ever session on the lake landing 7 carp to 37lb 8oz from the Shallows swim. All the fish were caught from approximately 120yds in open water on Mark’s own bait rolled by Geoff Bowers at ABS.

Over in the Woods swim, Scott had 14 carp to 60lb 4oz. Scott’s fish were caught from open water at ranges of 80yds to 130yds and all were caught on Fenspice hard hook baits tipped with Serreire peach & pepper 10mm pop ups fished snowman style. These were fished over heavily baited areas of 10mm Coppens pellets, Fenspice Peach & Pepper 18mm boilies and Mainline boilies.

On the right bank Tim Paisley landed 3 carp to 45lb fishing open water towards the centre of the lake over a big spread of Coppens pellets and boilies. As the week progressed, more and more carp were showing in the central area of the lake.

In the Outflow swim Darren had two fish to just under 40lb fishing at very close range over a mixture of Coppens pellets and sweetcorn.

Badgers Holt – It was a tricky week with plenty of fish showing but, as can sometimes be the case, they proved hard to temp. One fish was hooked but unfortunately lost.

Catch Report 7th – 14th October 2017:

Lac Serreire – Mark had a great week in the Shallows swim landing 25 carp to 51lb. All the fish were caught from open water at 125yds. Mark used over 100kg of bait during the week to hold the fish in the area. Successful bait was a customised version of the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies fished in conjunction with Coppens 10mm pellets. Rigs were set up with a combination of bottom baits and matching wafers.

In the Outflow swim Keith had a fantastic week breaking his PB twice with mirrors of 68lb 8oz and 62lb. These were caught from open water at 65yds. He also had a lovely 48lb mirror and a 26lb common fishing just a few feet out over the marginal weed. Over in the Woods swim Steve U had two fish to 34lb and in the Middle swim Steve L had three fish to 39lb.

Badgers Holt – Scott and I fished the lake for the week landing 9 carp. Best fish were the Big Common at 65lb and a 54lb mirror. All the fish were caught on a combination of Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies and Fenspice boilies (half and half) and these were fished over very heavily baited areas of Coppens 10mm pellets. Hook baits were Crayfish & Squid wafters fished in conjunction with Fenspice hard hook baits. The fish came from a variety of spots that were picked at the start of the week, consistently baited every day and not changed all week.

Catch Report 30th September – 7th October 2017:

Lac Serreire – Another excellent week with 46 carp landed. Mike and Amanda fished the Middle swim and caught 21 carp with 7 of them being over 40lb. Best two fish were 53lb 8oz and 52lb. All the fish were caught from open water at long range. Over in the Woods swim David had 23 fish to mid-40s, again from open water casting to around 80-90yds. In the Island swim James had fish to 49lb fishing towards the center of the lake. Most of the fish were caught on Mainline Hybrid boilies fished over very heavily baited areas of Coppens pellets and boilies. Photos will follow.

Badgers Holt – Jan had 3 carp of 55lb, 54lb and 42lb. The fish were caught on Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies fished over Coppens pellets.

Catch Report 23rd – 30th September 2017:

Lac Serreire – A great week again with 41 carp landed. Andrew had a fantastic session in the Shallows swim landing 23 carp to 52lb 2oz and including 8 x 40s. Andrew caught all the fish in open water and mainly towards Heron point at around 120yds. Over in the Woods swim Keith Williams had 15 carp to 54lb 12oz. Again all the fish were from open water but mainly at ranges less than 100yds. The best fish was from straight out from the swim at around 70yds. In the Island swim Andy had fish to 59lb again fishing open water on the left side of the swim. And in Tim & Mary’s swim, Chris had a 48lb mirror at 120yds towards the center of the lake. The key to success all week was using enough bait to keep the fish in the areas and feeding. In total approximately 250kgs of bait was used by the group and this was a mixture of Coppens pellets, Response pellets and Hybrid boilies.

Badgers Holt – Douwe and No had a good week with 5 carp landed; 53lb 11oz, 53lb 4oz, 52lb 14oz, 41lb 14oz & 40lb 1oz. No beat his PB twice – Congratulations!! Top angling guys and nice to see some original thinking and old school methods paying off!!

Catch Report 16th – 23rd September 2017:

Lac Serreire – Anthony and Lee had a great week doubled up in the Middle swim on the left bank. They landed 10 fish including 6 over 40lb, the best being a 66lb mirror. All the fish were caught at long range in open water and mainly from the left side of the swim. Successful bait was Essential B5 fishmeals used heavily over a wide spread. Over in the Woods swim Jamie and Colin had 7 fish including a PB mirror of 48lb to Jamie. Congrats Jamie!!

Badgers Holt – Graham and Paul had a good first ever week on the lake landing fish of 64lb, 55lb, 45lb and 40lb. The 64lb common was a PB for Paul – Congrats!! All the fish were caught on Serreire Fenspice hard hook baits fished over matching freebies combined with Coppens pellets.

Catch Report 9th – 16th September 2017:

Lac Serreire – Peter, John and Heady had an amazing week’s fishing. Peter started in the Shallows swim and then, on Monday, moved to the Woods swim on to showing fish. He ended up with 33 carp. The biggest was 67lb and he also included 12 x 40s and 16 x 30s, with many of them being upper-30s. As always, effort equaled reward with Peter moving in the rain and baiting around the clock to keep the fish in the areas he was fishing. All the fish were caught on a combination of CC Moore Pacific Tuna fishmeals and the Fenspice baits. Peter used around 45kg of boilies throughout the week. Nearly all the fish were caught at relatively close range for Serreire, at between 65yds and 80yds, and all fish were from open water. Both pop ups and snowmans were successful and all the fish were caught by simply casting to the spool clip. The ever-reliable MCF lead clips were used all on rods.

Over in the Outflow swim, John had fish to 58lb fishing at close range, around 40yds, again fishing over a lot of bait. Later in the week, after seeing fish show in the Shallows swim, John took a couple of rods up there, flicked them onto the fish, laid the rods on the ground and within an hour had a 44lb mirror before moving back to the Outflow.

In the Island swim, Heady had fish to 46lb, again fishing close range, towards the pads straight in front of the swim.

Almost all the fish were caught during day time. As always, the keys to success were; watching the water, never zipping up the bivvies, staying up through parts of the night when they show, not drinking at all, seeing the most subtle of signs and adjusting the approach, being prepared to move, using the right bait and enough of it and having the experience to know that fishing close range in open water will produce loads of fish with no risks of losing them in the pads if the bait and bait application are correct. We have always said that there is no need to ever get a fish snagged in the pads or snags on Serreire if you fish these swims correctly – This week was a good example, with not a single fish snagged.

Congratulations on the PB’s Peter and John!! Top old-school angling guys!

Badgers Holt – Was closed for the week to rest to carp and give them plenty of feed without any angling pressure.

This week has started well with a 40+ mirror from Badgers Holt last night.

Catch Report 2nd – 9th September 2017:

Badgers Holt – What a session! Bob ended up with 10 carp over the magical 50lb along with 5 x 40s and a number of smaller ones! The best fish being; 60lb, 59lb, 59lb, 59lb, 56lb, 54lb, 54lb, 53lb, 51lb, 50lb, 49lb, 49lb, 48lb, 44lb & 40lb. The sixty was a new sixty and several of the fifties were new fifties for the complex. All the fish were caught on Fenspice boilies fished in conjunction with Coppens 10mm Intensiv pellets. On average about 5kg of bait was used every day. As always, the key to success was good old fashioned watercraft: Watching and listening throughout all the prime times, including most mornings between 3am and dawn. Using a bait that is established and applying it differently to the norm. Using simple but efficient rigs tuned to how they were feeding and minimal drinking to stay sharp and be awake at the times that matter the most. Congratulations Bob on a massive haul of huge carp!!

Lac Serreire – Paul and Nick had a great week fishing the Woods swim landing 15 carp. The best two being mirrors of 65lb and 56lb. All the fish were caught at between 80 and 100yds in open water. As always, the best way to fish this swim is not at long range, but rather at comfortable throwing stick and casting range. The lads used around 50kg of boilies between them. Successful baits were a combination of 60% Serreire Fenspice and 40% Mainline Hybrid. Bait application was the key to success with the timing of baiting, the amount and the spread all proving to be important. Over in the left bank, Carl had a 55lb mirror from the Middle swim and Mick had fish to 38lb from the Shallows. Shaun had a 40lb mirror from the Outflow swim.

This week has started well with a 46lb mirror from Serreire’ Island swim.

We would like to remind all anglers to be careful not to leave baited rigs lying in the swim when they leave. For the third time this year we had to remove a hook with wrapped boilie from one of our dog’s mouths yesterday. Baits should always be removed from rigs and THROWN IN THE BIN throughout your session. Wrapped hook baits have also caused problems with dogs eating them and later vomiting up plastic. Please think! And please check your swim before leaving – This applies to all lakes and rivers that you fish, not just here!

Catch Report 26th August – 2nd September 2017:

Badgers Holt – Bob has had the session of a lifetime catching plenty more carp during last week. The biggest fish are now 1 x 60, 5 x 50s and 5 x 40s. The top fish being 60lb, 59lb, 56lb, 54lb, 54lb, 50lb, 49lb, 49lb, 48lb, 44lb & 40lb. All the fish have been caught on Fenspice boilies fished in conjunction with Coppens ‘Intensiv’ pellets. As always the spots and the bait application have been the keys to success combined with very simple rigs tuned to suit the type of feeding and the lake bed on each spot. Sitting up and watching and listening between 3am and 7am has also helped to work out exactly what the carp are doing. Congratulations Bob, it’s good to see that working hard at it, keeping a clear head and going back to the old fundamentals of carp angling will always pay off on these lakes.

During the week Bob caught up and wound in the rig shown in the last photo. This included a plastic piece of corn and was recent. Please respect the fact that we do not allow plastic baits. This is for the welfare of the carp that everyone wants to catch in good condition. And I can say for sure that tipping with plastic corn will not help you catch a Badgers Holt carp. They are not visual feeders and if you want the extra buoyancy then there are much more effective ways to create that. Just ask and I am always happy to help.

Lac Serreire – Paul’s group had an enjoyable first session on the lake landing carp to 48lb. Top swim was the Shallows swim with the best two fish being the 48lb mirror and a 43lb fish. The lads caught on a mixture of RG Baits boilies and also particles.

 Catch Report 19th – 26th August 2017:

Badgers Holt – Bob had a great first week of his 3 week session including a brace of 50s with mirrors of 56lb and 54lb at the same time. The 54lb mirror was a new 50 for the lake which is great to see. Bob also had mirrors of 49lb, 48lb and 37lb. Fenspice boilies and Coppens pellets accounted for most of the fish.

Lac Serreire – Was fished by just two anglers. Danny had a 57lb mirror from Tim & Mary’s swim fishing long range towards the middle of the lake. And Mark had a 41lb 12oz mirror and a small common fishing the Island swim also at long range. Danny and Mark used Mainline Cell boilies.

Catch Report 12th – 19th August 2017:

Lac Serreire – Nathen had a lovely 50lb mirror from the Shallows swim fishing into open water towards Heron Point. In the Middle swim Mark had fish to 43lb fishing off the tip of the outflow corner pads. And over in the Woods swim Bubby had mirrors to 32lb. All the carp were caught on the lads own baits.

Badgers Holt – No carp were caught. The lads fished their own baits trying many different spots and many different tactics. The carp were very active with shows in all areas of the lake throughout the week.

Catch Report 5th – 12th August 2017:

Badgers Holt – Adam had a great first ever trip to the lake landing mirrors of 57lb, 50lb, 49lb, 48lb, 47lb, 39lb and 28lb. Adam fished the lake very well, establishing some spots early in the week and resisting the temptation to chase the fish around, despite that fact that the carp were showing all over the place. Very accurate fishing, fine tuning of rigs and casting instead of using a bait boat paid off. Regular baiting with Coppens pellets also kept the carp constantly interested in the spots. Congrats on the PB Adam!!

Lac Serreire – Lee had had a great week in the Shallows swim landing 6 fish including mirrors of 66lb 6oz, 45lb, 42lb & 40lb. Congrats on the PB Lee!! Over in the Woods swim Marc landed 10 carp to 44lb. In the Outflow swim Jay had a long 50lb 2oz mirror and in the Middle swim Ashley had two carp to 27lb. All the fish were caught on a combination of boilies and maize.

Catch Report 29th July – 5th August 2017:

Badgers Holt – Was rested for the week. The carp were fed well and no pressure on them for a week is important from time to time.

Lac Serreire – Luke and Ed did well on the left bank landing 13 carp between them to upper thirties. The fish were mainly caught on maize from the Middle and Shallows swims. Over in the Woods swim Rainer had two carp also to upper thirties fishing with a mixture of his own boilies and the Serreire Fenspice baits. And in the Island swim Nick had one carp fishing just off the island on Nash Key Cray baits.

Catch report 22nd – 29th July 2017

Badgers Holt – Kyle and his friend had a great week landing 10 carp. Best fish were 52lb, 50lb, 46lb, 45lb & 44lb. All the carp were caught on Fenspice boilies baited very heavily but on a little and often basis. Hook baits were Fenspice hard hook baits. All the spots were also baited regularly with pellets and crushed up boilies. More photos to follow.

Lac Serreire – Terry and Luke had a good week fishing the Middle and Shallows swims on the left bank landing 11 carp including mirrors of 50lb, 44lb and 42lb. All the carp were landed on a combination of Fenspice boilies, Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies and pellets. Over in the Woods swim Ian landed around 10 carp including a lovely common of 43lb and mirrors to 41lb, again on a combination of the Crayfish & Squid and Serreire Fenspice boilies. On the right bank Mike had an upper-20 mirror from the Island swim. This was caught fishing to the island on his own baits.

Catch report 15th – 22nd July 2017

Lac Serreire – Was closed for our annual summer break giving the carp a well earned week off. This also allowed us to complete a lot of swim and lake maintenance. The carp were very active with plenty of fizzing and feeding activity so it’s looking good for the week ahead.

Badgers Holt – Manfred had a lovely 18lb 12oz koi. This was the only carp caught despite lots of fizzing and activity.

Catch report 8th – 15th July 2017

Lac Serreire – David fished the Shallows swim for 4 carp with the best being a stunning 42lb common. Jobbie fished the Woods also for 4 carp with a 42lb mirror being the biggest. And Warren had one fish of around 20lb from the Island swim. All the carp were caught on Essential B5 boilies.

Badgers Holt – Manfred had a great week with 6 carp, 5 over 40lb, with the best two being mirrors of 53lb and 52lb. Manfred baited very heavily with Coppens Pellets in combination with the Serriere Crayfish & Squid baits along with his own home made high quality fishmeal.

Catch report 1st – 8th July 2017

After a week of non-stop rain, it was then a week of non-stop very high temperatures. The water temperatures have been up and down by many degrees in the last three weeks and this has made for unsettled and difficult fishing.

Badgers Holt – John and Jordy landed two carp. The best was a koi of around 31lb and the other was a mirror of 26lb. The fish were caught on the lads own baits from Holland with both fish coming from the left/dam end of the lake.

Lac Serreire – Mike, fishing in the Shallows swim had three carp to 43lb using a mixture of Serreire Crayfish & Squid and Fenspice baits fished in conjunction with Coppens Premium Select pellets. Hook baits were Fenspice hard hookers. Over in the Island swim Manfred had one fish and in the Middle swim Dan also had one and lost one in the pads.

We would like to ask anglers that when using bait wrap to cover hook baits, please cut them out of the plastic and put them in the bin whenever you re-bait or at the end of the week. In the last few weeks we have had one dog vomiting up plastic wrapped baits half the night and the other dog with a live rig including hook in its mouth. Please think before just throwing wrapped baits in the bushes or leaving live rigs just laying around in your swim. Surely this is just common sense!? Thank you.

.

Catch report 24th June – 1st July 2017

The weather was unbelievably wet with torrential rain from Tuesday to Saturday. The water temperature dropped rapidly and the level increased back at the usual mid-winter level. And all this after 38-40C for the two weeks before. A very rapid change in conditions making for difficult fishing.

Badgers Holt – Despite the weather, Rob and Cliffe had a good first session on Badgers landing 3 carp of 52lb, 44lb & 33lb. The fish were caught on their own boilies fished in conjunction with pellets.

Lac Serreire – There were 25 carp caught with the best result coming to Manfred fishing in the Woods swim. Manfred had a fantastic week landing 20 carp including 6 forties with the best fish being a mirror of 52lb 9oz. All the fish were caught using a combination of the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies combined with Manfred’s own fishmeal boilies and Coppens pellets. Manfred fished well off the lily pads in open water at ranges between 80 and 100yds.

This week has started well with a 30lb+ koi from Badgers. Full details to follow…..

Catch report 10th – 17th June 2017

Badgers Holt – Scott fished the lake for the first time and had a great week landing 6 carp; 65lb 8oz, 55lb 8oz, 54lb, 50lb 8oz, 46lb 12oz and 30lb 8oz. The 65lb common was a PB. The 50lb fish was stalked from the shallows which is a great achievement and something that very few people try. All the fish were caught after spending many hours watching them closely and being extremely precise with the spots. And all were caught on Serreire Fenspice hard hook baits fished over a mixture of Fenspice freebies and Coppens 10mm pellets. Scott was using the ever reliable MCF clips. Hooks were Korda Wide Gape barbless size 6. This set up will catch any fish on the complex and is so reliable. The weather was extremely hot, mid-30s most days, and not ideal conditions. But finding the exact spots, applying the right bait and then being confident enough to leave the rigs for long periods proved to be successful. Congratulations Scott on a great week’s fishing.

As a side note, Scott was using his own leads which are excellent. In particular we recommend the peat coated flat pear versions which are the best we have seen. These are now available at the complex or directly from Scott Green.

Lac Serreire – Brian and Sean had a good week fishing the Woods swim and landing 11 carp to 41lb. The fish were caught on Serreire Fenspice baits fished in combination with pellets.
Over in the Middle swim, Steve had his first Lac Serreire carp with a nice mid-20. Nicely done Steve!

Summer has now arrived and the water temperature is already high. So we now have Coppens ‘Premium Select’ pellets available as well as the usual ‘Intensive’ pellets. Premium select have 5% more oil content and, in the warm water, this provides for the carp’s additional energy requirements. The breakdown time is also longer for these pellets. We will be supplying both pellet types until early September when we will go back to only using the Intensive pellets again. Both these pellet types are very effective when the naturals are as abundant as they are now.

.

Catch report 3rd – 10th June 2017

Lac Serreire – Luke had a great week in the Woods swim landing 11 carp including a PB common and PB mirror. Best fish was a lovely 53lb mirror caught on Friday evening. All the fish were caught fishing over a mixture of Serreire Fenspice and Crayfish & Squid boilies. Both pop ups and bottom baits produced results as hook baits. Alan had a good week landing a PB common of 53lb 8oz from the Island swim. Over in the Middle swim Tom had fish to 41lb 8oz and in the Shallows Gary had fish to just under 30lb.

Badgers Holt – Unfortunately illness caused a last minute cancellation and the lake was not fished for the week.

.

Catch report 27th May – 3rd June 2017

Lac Serreire – 23 carp were landed in total. Nick J had a great week in the Middle swim landing 7 fish including a PB 52lb mirror. Nick D had 4 fish in the Shallows swim to mid-30s. Mark Lycett had 9 fish from the Woods swim. All of Nick, Nick and Mark’s fish were caught using Fenspice boilies heavily baited in conjunction with Coppens pellets.
Over on the right bank in the Island and Tim & Mary’s swims Paul and Steve had 3 fish to just over 40lb using Mainline baits.

Badgers Holt – It was a tricky week for Paul and Bob with one carp of 46lb.

Catch report 20th – 27th May 2017

Lac Serreire – 16 carp were caught during the week. Jason had a great week in the Middle swim landing 5 carp including a PB mirror of 52lb 8oz along with others of 47lb 8oz and 41lb. In the Shallows swim Richard had 5 carp including a stunning 41lb common and over in the Woods Graham and Billy had 6 fish to 39lb 4oz. The fish were caught on a mixture of the Serreire Crayfish & Squid baits, Fenspice, Coppens pellets and the angler’s own baits. The carp were a bit moody probably due to the heavy spawning the week before. Good to meet you and see you next time guys!

Badgers Holt – Alex had the session of a lifetime landing the famous mirror JoJo at 79lb 14oz. This was backed up with a 57lb 3oz mirror and a couple of forties to 49lb 1oz. 9 carp in total were landed. It was almost a year ago since both JoJo and the 57lb mirror were last caught. It’s amazing how quite a few carp on the complex avoid capture for such long periods.

This week has started well with a nice mid-40 for Mark Lycett fishing on Serreire in the Woods swim. Details to follow……

Catch report 13th – 20th May 2017

Badgers Holt – Keith and Chris had a good week landing 10 carp including three 50+ fish with the best being a 54lb mirror. The fish were caught from a variety of spots over a mixture of boilies and pellets. As usual for this time of year, using a lot of bait seemed to be the key to success.

Lac Serreire – It was a tough week due to the carp spawning heavily for the first half of the week. Despite this, 14 fish were landed with the best fish being a 48lb mirror from the Island swim to Steve. Mark had the most fish with five from the Middle swim to 39lb.

Catch report 6th -13th May 2017

Lac Serreire – Another week of PBs! Adam had a great week fishing the Middle swim on the left bank landing mirrors to 71lb. The PB 71 was caught with about one hour left to go on Saturday morning. In the Shallows swim Keith had 8 carp to 44lb 13oz. Over in the Woods swim Jamie and Sean had 11 fish including a 55lb 6oz PB mirror for Sean and a 47lb PB common for Jamie. All the carp were caught on a combination of Serreire Crayfish & Squid and Serreire Fenspice baits. Congrats on the PBs!!

Badgers Holt – Paul had a good week landing carp to 51lb. He also managed to catch the ‘Baby Common’ at 27lb 11oz. This fish was just 8lb in April 2014, so it’s great to see such a healthy growth rate. Looking at the shape of this fish, it is definitely one to watch for the future. All of Paul’s fish were caught fishing Fenspice cork-dust pop ups over small amounts of Serreire Fenspice boilies and Coppens 10mm pellets presented just off much larger baited areas. Baiting heavily but fishing just to the sides of the baited areas with the Fenspice hook baits seemed to make a big difference and produce bites as soon it was tried.

This week has started well with a fish out of Badgers on the first night. Details to follow….

Catch report 29th April – 6th May 2017

Badgers Holt – Dave and Charlie had a great week with Charlie beating his PB three times landing carp of 52lb, 52lb and then 64lb. Dave also had fish to 48lb. The majority of the carp were caught from the koi corner area of the lake. Fishing pop ups over Coppens pellets and a mixture of Fenspice and their own boilies proved to be the successful method. Congrats Charlie on all the PBs!

Lac Serreire – It was definitely a week of PBs with three of the anglers fishing the big lake also breaking their PBs. Terry in the Island swim had a massive 62lb mirror on Big Fish Thursday, Tony had a 56lb mirror from Tim & Mary’s swim and Matt had a PB common of just under 40lb from the Shallows swim.
Lee also had fish to 44lb in the Middle swim and Mark had fish to upper 30s in the Woods swim.

Just a reminder to all anglers fishing the complex. Please make sure that each angler has scales that weigh to at least 85lb and also each angler has chest waders. Having fish ‘bottom-out’ scales and then having to go around the lake to borrow someone else’s scales before putting the fish through a second round of the whole out-of-the-water procedure is not acceptable. Please be prepared. Thank you.

Catch report 22nd -29th April 2017

Badgers Holt – Dylan and Paul finished their two week session with a total of 19 carp landed. Dylan managed to catch the Big Common twice at 65lb along with mirrors of 56lb, 53lb and 52lb and Paul had fish to 52lb. There were also a lot of good 40s out making a very high average weight for the session. All the fish were caught on bottom baits with the Serreire Fenspice baits proving to be very successful along with Dylan’s own fishmeal bait. Several fish were caught on the Fenspice cured hookbaits and in all cases the boilies were fished over Coppens 10mm pellets. Congratulations on the big common Dylan!

Lac Serreire – Simon had a great week fishing the Shallows swim landing 13 carp, the best being mirrors of 52lb, 47lb, 43lb and 42lb. All of Simon’s fish were caught using the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies fished over Coppens pellets. Over in the Island Swim Steve Briggs landed three fish to 39lb using Nash Key baits. In the Woods swim Chris and Duncan landed 10 fish including the Grey Lady at a massive 79lb along with mirrors of 56lb, 49lb, 42lb and several upper thirties. The fish were caught on a combination of Serreire Crayfish & Squid baits, Coppens pellets and Nash baits. In the Outflow swim Volker landed a 30lb common on MTC baits and in the Middle swim Terry had a tricky week but managed to two fish at the same time at the end of the session, the best being a 32lb mirror.

Just a reminder to all anglers visiting us this year, please make sure that each angler has scales with them that weight to at least 85lb.

Catch report 15th – 22nd April 2017

Badgers Holt – Dylan had a fantastic week landing nine carp including the Big Common at 65lb and mirrors of 56lb, 53lb 52lb, 48lb and 44lb. The fish were caught from a variety of spots mainly in open water. Successful baits were a combination of the Serreire Fenspice cured hook baits and also Dylan’s own pop ups fished over a mixture of boilies, broken boilies and Coppens pellets. Congrats on the PB Dylan! Especially good angling since the weather was far from ideal with bitterly cold NE winds nearly all week.

Lac Serreire – Another great week. Dan had the Long Mirror at 70lb along with a 47lb mirror from the Woods swim. Over in the Middle swim Dave had 10 carp including a new 60+ for the complex with an amazing 65lb 10oz mirror, well up in weight from last year – This is one to watch for the future! The majority of the fish came from open water within easy casting range. Successful baits were all fishmeals; a mixture of Serriere Crayfish & Squid, Nutrabaits Trigga and Shoreline boilies. Congrats on all the PBs!!

The number of 40 pound plus fish and the average weights this year on the complex are really good to see.

Catch report 8th – 15th April 2017

Badgers Holt – Wim and his father had a good week landing 6 carp to 52lb 9oz. Wim included one of the quite rarely caught scaly Badgers mirrors at 38lb 5oz – A really stunning carp. The carp were caught on from a variety of spots on both the Serreire Crayfish & Squid wafters and also Wim’s own strawberry boilies.

Lac Serreire – Great to see the Hastings & Bexhill lads on the complex. Sam had an excellent week in the Shallows swim landing 7 carp including mirrors of 58lb 12oz, 52lb 12oz, 49lb 14oz and 42lb 10oz. In the Woods swim Barry had 6 carp including a 49lb 8oz common and a 47lb mirror in the last hour before packing up. Over in the Outflow swim, Phil had 5 carp to 30lb and in the Island swim Peter had 3 carp. All the fish were caught on a mixture of Serreire Fenspice combined with Crayfish & Squid boilies. Sam also used the Coppens Carp Intensive pellets.

Catch report 1st – 8th April 2017

Lac Serreire – Despite a cold north easterly wind for much of the week, a great week was had by all with 33 carp landed. Martin and Marco fishing in the Middle and Shallows swims on the left bank had 18 carp between them. Best fish were 77lb 11oz, 56lb, 53lb 4oz, 49lb and 48lb. They also landed 6 other 40s (including 2 commons) along with 7 smaller 30s and 20s. All the fish were caught fishing Serreire Fenspice cured hook baits, tipped with small white pop ups and presented over Fenspice and Crayfish & Squid boilies mixed 50/50 and combined with Coppens 10mm pellets. The salted hookbaits at this time of year are very effective.

Over in Tim & Mary’s swim Markus landed 4 carp to 49lb 5oz also fishing with a mixture of the same two boilies and pellets. Markus’ fish were all from the middle area of the lake in open water. Wim fished the Island swim and landed 3 carp to mid-30s fishing with Crayfish & Squid wafters. And over in the Woods swim Kevin and Katie had 8 carp including a mirror of 46lb and a common of 44lb.

This week has started well on Serreire with fish to 42lb 10oz caught on the first night.

Lac Serreire – Ian, Ray and Paul had a good week with 12 carp landed. Biggest was a 55lb mirror. They also landed five 40s to 48lb. All the fish came from the Woods and Middle swims and all were caught on the Serreire Fenspice boilies fished over a mixture of boilies and Coppens pellets. Most were caught in the day time.

Badgers Holt – Andy and Trevor have the first two weeks booked. The opening week proved to be a tricky week, even though the carp were extremely active and showing a lot. Andy had a 28lb mirror towards the end of the week and, with another week ahead now, we hope that will be the first of a few.
