Catch Reports 2015

Week of 21st – 28th November:

Lac Serreire – We had the first heavy frosts of the year with temperatures dipping to -6C on the Monday night. 20 carp were landed. Mike had 5 fish from the Island swim, all in open water, with the biggest being a 42lb 11oz (19.4kg) mirror caught on his very first night at the complex and in truly freezing conditions. Over on the left bank there were 12 fish from the Middle swim to around 35lb (16kg) and in the Woods swim 3 fish. Most of the fish were caught on the Serreire crayfish & squid boilies and mainly on double bottom baits/wafters.

Badgers Holt – There were no carp landed. They were active and showing but mainly at night and very early in the mornings when they can be easily missed. A lot of fish are now showing over the siltiest areas of the lake which they seem to favour as the temperatures drop.

Week of 14th – 21st November:

Badgers Holt – Tough conditions made the fishing once again very tricky. But Peter managed a very big mirror of 60lb 8oz (27.5kg) and Marcel landed a 51lb 11oz (23.5kg) mirror. Peter’s mirror was caught on the right side of the swim fishing down the margin towards the shallows on a wafter. Congratulations Peter on the PB.

Lac Serreire – Gerry and Derek caught 9 carp to 52lb 12oz (24kg) from the Woods swim. 7 of the fish came from the right side of the swim and 2 from the left side including the 50. Congratulations Gerry on the new PB! Over on the left bank the lads landed 5 30s to 36lb (16kg) from the Middle & Shallows swims fishing at around 100yds range on the Crayfish & Squid baits.

Week of 7th – 14th November:

Conditions remained very difficult during the last week with high pressure, little or no wind and heavy fog most nights and mornings. This certainly made the fishing challenging. The forecast is for a change in the weather later this week so this should improve the fishing.

Lac Serreire – Gareth’s group landed 16 carp with Joe in the Shallows swim having the largest fish; a mirror of 36lb 10oz (16.6kg) along with another nice mid-30. Daniel had the most fish in the Birches swim landing 4 carp to 30lb (13.6kg) and breaking his PB twice. The fish were mainly caught on double baits or snowman presentations. During the last couple of days the fish started showing a lot at long range, in open water towards the middle of the lake.

Badgers Holt – The lads found it hard going. Various methods were tried using groundbait and their own boilies but unfortunately no carp were landed. They decided to leave on Thursday, so the lake has been rested for a couple of days before this week’s anglers started.

Week of 31st October – 7th November:

Difficult conditions with very high pressure all week made the fishing very tricky (1030mbar yesterday).

Lac Serreire – There were 26 carp landed with Mark in the Birches swim having a fantastic result landing 4 fish to 72lb (32.7kg). Congratulations on the PB Mark!! Matt also had a good week’s fishing in the Middle swim landing 10 carp to 43lb (19.5kg). Phil had two good 30s in Tim & Mary’s swim breaking his PB twice. And over in the Woods swim, Benny had 9 fish to around 30lb.

Badgers Holt – The conditions led to very difficult fishing last week and despite plenty of activity and fish showing, the lads trying a variety of methods, no carp were landed.

This week has started well with two fish out of the Middle swim on Lac Serreire last night caught at long range.

We would also like to remind all anglers that only barbless hooks are allowed on both lakes. During removal of a lot of snapped off line and rigs yesterday we found a number of barbed hooks!

Week of 24th -31st October:

Badgers Holt – Thomas had a good week landing three big mirrors to 53lb 4oz (24.2kg). The weather was very changeable with a big storm, very heavy rain then sunny days but cold nights. The changeable conditions made the fishing tricky so every take was well earned.

Lac Serreire – Was also a tricky week with less fish caught than usual. Best fish were to Dan with a cracking 47lb 8oz (21.6kg) mirror from the Shallows swim, Dave with a 41lb (18.6kg) common from the Outflow swim and Julian with a 42lb (19.1kg) mirror from the Island swim.

This week has started well with 4 fish out from the Woods swim last night and a lot of shows yesterday evening and throughout the night. Full details in next weekend’s catch report.

Just a reminder that as we move into November, the water temperatures are dropping and we have now stopped the use of our Coppens warm water pellets. The fat content makes them unsuitable for the colder conditions. The only pellets that are now allowed are our Coppens cold water pellets that have a very low fat content. For more details please see the baits section of our website at http://www.lacserreire.com/?page_id=211

Week of 17th – 24th October:

Lac Serreire – Torben & Jannik had a good week fishing the Woods Swim landing 8 carp to 61lb 10oz (28kg). The fish were caught mainly from open water at long range. Over in the Outflow Swim, Thomas had a small mirror fishing to the pads. Every take last week was on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid wafters fished over quite heavily baited areas of the same HNV boilies. Other baits and methods were tried elsewhere on the lake but without success.

Badgers Holt – Markus and his friend had mirrors of 54lb 2oz (24.6kg), 50lb 3oz (22.8kg) & 45lb 1oz (20.5kg). Again, despite trying other baits, all three fish were caught on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid HNV baits fished in three different spots. Both the 50s were several pounds up in weight compared to their weights at the same time of year last year which is great to see.

This week has started well with Dan landing a cracking 47lb 8oz (21.6kg) mirror from Lac Serreire. Full details in next weekend’s catch report.

Week of 10th – 17th October:

Lac Serreire – An excellent week with 55 carp caught by Alan and his group despite cold NE winds and less than ideal conditions. David and Luke fishing on the left bank landed 26 carp from the Middle and Shallows swims. Both had upper 40 mirrors to 48lb 2oz (21.9kg). Most of the fish were caught in open water at medium range on the Serreire crayfish & squid boilies. Nigel and Adam on the right bank had a good week with the best fish being a 49lb 2oz (22.3kg) mirror to Nigel fishing in Tim & Mary’s swim. Over in the Woods swim Alan and Tivey also landed plenty of carp to 43lb 10oz (19.8kg). The whole group did not use the rowing boats unless absolutely necessary for landing the odd fish. This always makes a huge difference and the anglers that fish at throwing stick range, and make no boat disturbance, very often catch a lot more fish than the average. Top ‘old-school’ angling guys!!! Congrats on all the fish and see you next time.

Another point worth thinking about is that this group fished a very sensible distance away from the lily pads and still managed to get more bites than on an average week. The difference is that almost no fish at all were lost in the pads. If you bait up away from the pads, then the carp will come to the bait. If you bait up right next to the pads then the carp will stay in the pads. If you hook them next to the pads then you will lose many fish, especially if you are fishing at long range as well. Please fish a safe distance off the pads at all times (ask for advice if you are not sure). Please also remember that all hooks must be barbless.

Badgers Holt – The guys found the fishing challenging last week. Unfortunately they didn’t catch despite trying lots of different methods and a variety of their own baits all week.

Week of 3rd – 10th October:

Lac Serreire – Another big fish week with two 60s out.

Graham and Paul fished the right bank in Tim & Mary’s and the Island swims and landed 19 carp including two PB mirrors for Graham at 68lb 6oz (31.1kg) and 54lb 6oz (24.7kg). Congratulations Graham!!

Over on the left side, Trevor had a fantastic week landing 18 carp including PB mirrors of 60lb 8oz (27.5kg) and 50lb 4oz (22.8kg) along a string of 40s and 30s. Trevor’s fish were all caught on a combination of the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies and Coppens pellets fished in the silt. Hook baits were mainly the Crayfish & Squid wafters fished on blowback rigs with MCF lead clips. Congrats on the PBs!

Badgers Holt – Danny and Heike landed 5 carp including a mirror of 50lb 8oz (23kg), 3 mid-40 mirrors and a lovely 41lb (18.5kg) common. The fish were caught from a variety of spots around the lake including a couple of takes from right up in the very shallow water at the top end of the lake.

Week of 26th September – 3rd October:

Lac Serreire – An excellent week for Andy and his group from the UK with some very big carp on the bank again. Mel had a well earned 69lb 8oz (31.6kg) mirror along with a couple of other good fish after moving swims. Loz had mirrors of 54lb 12oz (24.9kg), 53lb (24.1kg) & 41lb (18.6kg). Andy had a 51lb 4oz (23.3kg) mirror on the last night and the other lads had plenty of other fish to 45lb (20.5kg). Most of the fish were again caught on the cold water version of Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies fished in along with Coppens pellets. This combination has been extremely successful during the last weeks and the addition of the emulsifier at this time of year really helps.

Badgers Holt – Dirk & Filip from Germany had a tough week but in the end caught 3 carp to 56lbs (25.5kg). Dirk used his own baits and fished a variety of spots during the week.

Photos will follow from both groups with some more of last week’s carp.

This week has started very well on Lac Serreire with around 15 takes already and fish to 60lb 8oz (27.5kg). Conditions are excellent for the days ahead.

Week of 19th – 26th September:

Lac Serreire – Fantastic week with a lot of big fish on the bank. Rob fished the Middle swim and broke his PB multiple times with mirrors of 67lb 8oz (30.7kg), 51lb 0oz (23.2kg), 49lb 0oz (22.3kg), 45lb 1oz (20.5kg), 45lb 3oz (20.5kg), 43lb 8oz (19.8kg), 43lb 0oz (19.5kg) along with a couple of good 30s. Over in the Island swim Keith had mirrors of 68lb 9oz (31.2kg), 48lb 2oz (21.9kg), 42lb 0oz (19.1kg), 41lb 8oz (18.9kg), 40lb 8oz (18.4kg), a common of 40lb 1oz (18.2kg) and a number of 30s. Chris did well in Tim & Mary’s swim with 10 carp to 38lb (17.3kg). Ben did well in the Shallows swim also landing 10 carp to mid-30s. And over in the Woods swim Andy had 15 fish including a lot of 30s to 39lb 2oz (17.8kg).

The weather has cooled down, the leaves are falling and autumn is well and truly here. Water temperature is now around 16C and the naturals have already started to reduce a little. The carp are now feeding on boilies very heavily and all last weeks fish were caught over plenty of bait.

Badgers Holt – The guys found it hard going last week and unfortunately didn’t catch despite trying lots of different methods and a variety of their own baits all week. The Badgers Holt carp can certainly be tricky that’s for sure.

WK39

.

Week of 12th – 19th September:

The weather was very stormy with a lot of rain all week. The water temperature dropped to 16.5C by the end of the week.

Badgers Holt – Nick and Regan had their best week’s fishing ever landing 11 carp including fish of 76lb 0oz (34.5kg), 61lb 8oz (28kg), 54lb 7oz (24.7kg), 54lb 0oz (24.5kg), 53lb 0oz (24.1kg), 46lb 8oz (21.1kg), 45lb 10oz (20.7kg) & 45lb 6oz (20.6kg). The biggest two fish were JoJo and the Big Common. All were caught on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies which are now very well established on the lake. Because these baits were also heavily fed the week before, results just got better and better. All the fish came on wafter hook baits fished over good spreads of baits that were consistently baited all week.

Lac Serreire – Kevin and Bob had a great week on the left bank with Kevin landing the best fish at 70lb 9oz (32.1kg). Kevin used mainly his own baits and Bob used the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies. On the right bank, Lee and Anthony in Tim & Mary’s and the Island swims had some nice fish to 47lb 7oz (21.6kg) on Essential B5 boilies.

With the reducing water temperature, for the remainder of the season, we have now switched to the cold water version of our Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies which has an emulsifier added. This helps break down the fat content, aids digestion and also increases attraction.

Week of 5th – 12th September:

Badgers Holt – John & Ian had a great week landing mirrors of 75lb 9oz (34.3kg)-JoJo, 55lb 2oz (25.1kg), 52lb 3oz (23.7kg), 48lb (21.8kg), 44lb 6oz (44.4kg), 44lb 5oz (44.4kg), 42lb 12oz (19.4kg) & 35lb 4oz (16kg). JoJo and many of the fish were caught fishing right down into the shallows end of the lake on the furthest right rod. All the carp were caught on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid wafter hook baits fished over a good spread of the same boilies. As usual, if this bait is applied steadily throughout the week, results get better and better as the session progresses – Bait choice and application are the keys to success on Badgers. Congratulations Ian & John on the multiple PBs!!

Lac Serreire – Andy had a great week in the Island swim landing 5 fish including PB mirrors of 70lb 3oz (31.9kg) and 45lb (20.5kg). Over on the left bank Dan and Shaun had 10 carp to 37lb (17kg) from the Shallows & Middle swims. Charlie more than doubled his previous PB with a 35lb mirror and a 30lb common from Tim & Mary’s swim. A variety of baits were used including Trigga, Crayfish & Squid and Monster Crab boilies.

70lb 3oz

.

Week of 29th August – 5th September:

Badgers Holt – Douwe & No had a good week landing 4 fish to 52lb 9oz (23.9kg). The fish were very active and showing a lot especially over the silty areas of the lake (feeding heavily on blood worm). The fish were caught on both strawberry boilies and the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies.

Lac Serreire – Waldemar & Andreas had the whole lake to themselves and enjoyed the week landing around 20 carp including several 40s (18kg). The first half of the week was spent fishing the Island swim and Tim & Mary’s. The fish gradually moved to the left side of the lake so Waldemar and Andreas moved to the Shallows and Birches swims which paid off with most of the fish caught from this side of the lake after the move.

Week of 22nd – 29th August:

Lac Serreire – Another big fish week with 31 carp landed to 68lb 1oz (31kg).

Serreire regular, Dave “The Machine” had his best week ever on the lake landing 20 carp including a PB mirror of 51lb 9oz (23.4kg) along with mirrors of 46lb 13oz (21.3kg) & 41lb 10oz (18.9kg), a lovely common of 45lb 9oz (20.7kg) and plenty of 30s and 20s. Dave’s fish were caught from the Woods swim on Trigga boilies fished as bottom baits. All the fish were caught by casting with no use at all of bait boats or rowing boats. Dave used a throwing stick all week and got through a lot of bait – So much so that pain killers were required to ease the elbow pain and plasters to cover up the blisters! The excellent quality HNV bait, lack of disturbance from a boat and the spread of boilies achieved with a stick made a tremendous difference with a lot of fish staying in the swim all week. Congratulations Dave on the well earned PB, brilliant angling!! Good to see that the sharp hook and stringy stuff works just as well today as ever. See you next time!

Over on the left bank, Adam and Dan fished the Shallows and Middle swims. Adam broke his old PB twice with mirrors of 68lb 1oz (31kg) and 52lb 10oz (24kg). Dan & Adam had several other smaller fish and all were caught at long range on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies mixed with Coppens pellets. Nigel also had 3 fish on the left side of the Woods swim. And over in Tim & Mary’s swim on the right bank Wim had 3 carp to 55lb (25kg) fishing close in with a couple coming from just 25m out and one from directly in front of the boat platform.

Badgers Holt – Nathan and Tim had 3 fish to 45lb (20.5kg) including “The Baby Common” at it’s biggest weight yet; 21lb. Considering this fish started at 8lb in April 2014 this is an amazing growth rate and shows just how rich the lake is. The fish were caught on a mixture of Sticky Baits Krill and Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies.

Week of 15th – 22nd August:

Badgers Holt – Florian & Jonas had a good week with 7 carp landed including mirrors of 50lb 10oz (23kg), 48lb 7oz (22kg) & 46lb 3oz (21kg). They also had a lovely 43lb (19.5kg) common. The carp were caught from a variety of spots and all on boilies. Florian will be sending us some photos soon.

Lac Serreire – A good week with 46 carp landed including 4 fifties. Danny had a 3 fifties from the Outflow swim after moving from the Shallows mid-week. John had a lot of fish from the Woods swim to 54lb (24.5kg). Mandy had a nice 31lb mirror at the end of the week during packing up. Mark and Matt both had some good fish to mid-40s. Overall the group had a lot of 40s & 30s along with the four 50s. Many of the fish were caught on the Krill & Crab boilies heavily baited along with a scattering of mixed particles.

WK34.

Week of 8th – 15th August:

Lac Serreire – Was a big fish week with mirrors of 69lb and 71lb caught.

Mark fished the Shallows swim and had 13 carp including the 69lb (31.4kg) mirror. The big fish as usual came from the right side of the swim at long range in open water. Over in the Woods swim Jason and Dane had 9 fish to just under 40lb. Dane broke his old PB with almost every fish landed. In the Middle swim Mel had 8 fish to 46lb again fishing long range in open water. And in the Island swim Nathan had a huge mirror of 71lb (32.3kg) also fishing open water straight in front of the swim at medium range. All the fish were caught on boilies over heavily baited areas.

Badgers Holt – Robbert and Jan had 3 carp to 51lb 8oz (23.4kg). They were all caught after a change of bait during the week to the Serreire Crayfish & Squid HNV boilies which the carp really love now that so much has been fed in the lake.

Congratulations on the five new PBs on the complex last week!

WK33

.

Week of 1st – 8th August:

Badgers Holt – Mitchel & Johan had a good session landing 9 carp despite only fishing half the week until Wednesday and then having to return home. Again the average weight was very high with the best few fish being mirrors of 51lb 12oz (23.5kg), 51lb 11oz (23.5kg), 49lb 8oz (22.5kg), 48lb 7oz (22kg), 46lb 2oz (21kg) & 43lb (19.5kg). All the fish were caught on boilies and the successful method was again heavy baiting, the same as the week before. All fish were caught on bottom baits fishing in the silt which always tends to work well at this time of year when the naturals are plentiful.

Lac Serreire – David, Phil and the Belfast crew had a nice week landing some good fish to 50lb 5oz (23kg). Top swim was the Woods swim fishing at range into open water towards the centre of the lake. All the fish were caught using the Serreire Crayfish and Squid boilies, Coppens Carpco pellets and maize. Some photos will follow when the lads get back home. See you next year!

This week has started well with carp already caught from both lakes. We had heavy rain last night and a big storm a few days ago and we are pleased to be able to report that both lakes are now back up to their usual water levels after the last two months being the driest on record for the Limousin region.

WK32

.

Week of 25th July – 1st August:

Badgers Holt – Paul and Bob had a great week with some very big fish including JoJo at her best weight ever; 76lb (34.5kg) as previously reported. They also had mirrors of 57lb (26kg), 55lb (25kg) & 53lb (24kg) along with a number of others including “The baby common” for the first time over 20lb. This fish started last year at 8lb so it’s growth rate has been spectacular. Probably a very big fish for the future. Average weight for the week was over 52lb (23.6kg).

The Badgers carp have been heavily preoccupied on natural food during the last two months of very hot weather. So Paul & Bob did the opposite to most anglers and baited very heavily with boilies and pellets, using over 85kg through the week to pull the fish off the naturals and onto the baits. This worked really well and is similar to Steve Briggs’ approach in the past at this time of year. Successful baits were the Serreire Crayfish and Squid boilies combined with Coppens 10mm pellets.

Lac Serreire – Scott did very well on his first visit to the lake landing 12 carp from the Outflow swim including mirrors of 50lb 6oz (23kg) & 45lb 6oz (20.6kg) and a 42lb 12oz (19.4kg) common. Scott used freezer baits from Poacher Baits combined with 16mm Coppens pellets. Ian had a few fish from the Bank swim including a nice brace of mid 40s fishing the Krill & Crab boilies over 16mm Coppens pellets.

WK31

.

Week of 18th – 25th July:

Lac Serreire – Manfred had 7 carp from Tim & Mary’s swim with the best fish being 68lb 10oz (31.2kg) and a lovely long common of 42lb 11oz (19.4kg). Volker had 5 fish from the Island swim, Tony had a good week in the Outflow swim including three forties in a night up to 49lb (22.3kg). Over in the Woods swim Dave and Charlie had a good week with 14 fish. Most of the fish were caught at long range in open water fishing in the silt over spreads of Coppens pellets.

Badgers Holt – Mark and Chris had 3 carp of 49lb (22.5kg), 46lb (21kg) and 42lb (19.1kg) fishing pop ups over Nutrabaits Trigga boilies.

For the first time in a about 8 weeks we have a change in the weather and a little rain today, so this should definitely be good for the fishing after the hottest June and July in this area for decades.

WK30

.

Week of 11th – 18th July:

Badgers Holt – The weather continued to be extremely hot with no rain and temperatures of 35-40C every day. Volker and Manfred had a good week’s fishing with 9 carp landed including mirrors of 57lb 3oz (26kg), 52lb 13oz (24kg), 52lb (23.6kg) and 50lb 10oz (23kg) along with three good forties. The fish were active mainly in the early hours of the morning. Volker and Manfred fished consistently throughout the week resting the lake most days and fishing at night and during the morning feeding period. Noise was kept to an absolute minimum and the guys were up watching the water every morning from before it go light to pinpoint the exact feeding spots. The fish were caught on ‘wrapped’ balanced baits over patches of mixed boilies and pellets. Top angling guys – Nice result especially given the difficult hot weather conditions!

Lac Serreire – Was not fished the last week allowing some time for routine maintenance and giving the carp a break at the same time.

WK29

.

Week of 4th – 11th July:

The weather was absolutely scorching hot with temperatures around 40C many days. The French government have even declared a weather emergency due to the very unusual heat wave conditions. This of course unfortunately made the fishing less than ideal throughout most French venues the last two weeks.

Lac Serreire – Despite the poor conditions, John and friends landed approximately 40 carp. John had 33 fish from the Island swim including a lovely 50lb (23kg) mirror and a brace of 40+ commons. Over on the left bank, there were a number of good 30s landed. Most of the fish were on the Krill and Crab boilies fished over boilies, pellets and a scattering of maize.

Badgers Holt – Till fished hard and in the end caught 3 carp to 51lb (23.2kg). Due to the high water temperatures, the natural food life became very plentiful and the carp were very actively feeding on these naturals most days. Till’s fish were caught on the Serreire Crayfish and Squid boilies, using wafters as hook baits over a scattering of freebies and Coppens pellets. Congratulations Till on the 50+ mirror – That was a very well earned carp for sure!! See you next time.

WK28

.

Week of 20th – 27th June:

Lac Serreire – Extremely hot conditions with temperatures well in excess of 30C every day certainly made the fishing pretty difficult the last week. Dan and friends from the UK still managed to land some good fish including a lovely 42lb (19kg) PB common for Paul in the Middle swim on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies and 9 fish to the ever consistent Dave in the Woods swim. Jay also did well in the Shallows swim with some good fish caught at long range towards Heron Point. It was nice to see nearly all the fish were caught by casting instead of boating and because so few anglers cast these days this makes a huge difference on Serreire.

Badgers Holt – Henk from The Netherlands landed one fish of 47lb 4oz (21.5kg) using his own bait from The Netherlands fishing tight to the far margin tree line.

.

Week of 13th – 20th June:

Badgers Holt – Alan and Luke Taylor from the UK had a great week landing 9 carp including 4 over the magical 50lb mark, the largest being 61lb 4oz (27.8kg). The takes came from various spots at both ends of the lake. All fish were caught on the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies mixed with Coppens 10mm pellets. Hook baits were the small dumbbell shaped Crayfish boilies fished straight on the bottom. Alan baited multiple spots ahead of fishing them and this seemed to get the fish confidently feeding before any lines were in each area.

Lac Serreire – The anglers found it quite hard going this week despite the fish being quite active and showing a lot especially at range in the center area of the lake. However, John and Thomas from Germany had a great week landing a number of carp from the Woods swim to 71lb 8oz (32.5kg). The big fish was caught in open water at long range towards the middle area of the lake over an area baited with Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies, mixed particle and Coppens pellets (mixed 10mm & 16mm). Congratulations on the PB John!!

The lads this week had a good start with Paul in the Middle swim banking two nice 40s this morning including a PB common of 42lb. Full details to follow in next weekend’s catch report.

WK25

.

Week of 6th – 13th June:

Lac Serreire – Fished well again with around 55 carp landed. Tim & Mary’s swim produced some very big fish to 60lb 8oz (27.5kg) fishing at long range in open water. Jamie in the Outflow swim had 11 fish to 46lb, a new PB. The Shallows produced around 20 carp for Mark and over in the Woods, Richard had 15 fish to 47lb (21.4kg) also fishing into open water. Most of the fish were caught on Serreire Crayfish and Squid boilies fished in combination with Coppens pellets (mixed 10mm & 16mm).

Badgers Holt – Simon & Patrick landed 5 carp to 50lb 3oz, another new PB. The fish were landed from a variety of different spots. This was Simon & Patrick’s first visit to Badgers Holt and they worked hard to learn about the lake and the fish. Nice fishing guys, see you next time!

Week of 30th May – 6th June:

Lac Serreire – The weather has been unbelievably hot with temperatures over 30C most days and the carp spending much of their time in the upper layers. Peter from The Netherlands had 13 fish to 49lb (22.3kg), a new PB. Peter started in the Middle swim and mid-week moved to the Shallows swim. The fish were caught on a mixture of Serreire Krill & Crab boilies along with Crayfish & Squid boilies and 10mm & 16mm Coppens pellets.

John and his sons John and Gary from the UK had 18 fish including some nice 40s to 46lb (20.9kg). Fish were caught from a variety of swims and all with the Serreire Crayfish & Crab boilies mixed with Coppens pellets. Rigs were presented on the ever-reliable MCF clips with barbless hooks – A perfect combination resulting in almost no lost fish all week. John worked really hard, moving swims twice to keep on the fish.

Badgers Holt – Thomas & Michael from Germany landed 6 fish to 48lb 7oz (22kg). The fishing was tricky with the high water temperatures, but working hard paid off with some nice fish. The fish were caught on Thomas’ own freshly rolled fishmeal boilies.

This week has already started well with 2 good 40s from far from Lac Serreire. Full details to follow in next weekend’s catch report.

Week of 23rd May – 30th May:

Badgers Holt – Another great week with 14 fish landed. As previously reported, Tjeu had the famous mirror JoJo at a record weight of 75lb 8oz (34.3kg). She was in excellent condition, up in weight and very strong which was great to see. Amongst the other carp landed were mirrors of 56lb 2oz (25.5kg), 53lb 14oz (24.5kg), 48lb 6oz (22kg), 47lb 5oz (21.5kg) & 42lb 14oz (19.5kg) and a common of 42lb 14oz (19.5kg).

Also, very interesting was ‘The Small Common’ at a nice weight of 19lb 13oz (9kg). This fish has more than doubled in weight in the last couple of years and as it gets older it is developing into a two-tone fish. It also has huge shoulders and the perfect shape to become a very large fish in the future.

Most of the carp were caught on very small yellow pop ups fished over beds of the Serreire crayfish & squid boilies and Coppens pellets. Rigs were fished on MCF lead clips with barbless Korda wide gape size 6 hooks. Top angling and congratulations on the capture of JoJo.

Lac Serreire – Overall about 45 carp were landed. Dylan in the Middle swim had a good week with 14 carp including PB mirrors of 57lb (26kg), 48lb 13oz(22.2kg) & 47lb (21.4kg). These fish were mainly caught at 120yds straight in front of the swim in open water over a very heavily baited area of Coppens pellets, Serreire crayfish & squid boilies and Dylan’s own very similar fishmeal squid boilie.

Paul in the Woods swim had 21 carp topped by a 59lb (26.8kg) mirror and also a 78lb (35.5kg) catfish. Most of Paul’s bigger fish came from long range towards the centre of the lake again in open water over heavily baited areas of Serreire krill & crab boilies along with crayfish & squid boilies and Coppens pellets.

Josh in the Island swim beat his PB twice with a mirror of 56lb (25.5kg) and a common of 52lb (23.6kg), both fish nicely up in weight since last year.

Congratulations on all the PBs last week!

Week of 16th May – 23rd May:

Lac Serreire – Martin’s group from the UK had a good week landing 26 fish despite that fact that the carp spawned heavily mid-week. Dave had a couple of lovely mirrors of 58lb 3oz (26.4kg) and 47lb (21.4kg) from the Middle swim as previously reported. Ryan beat his PB three times during the week landing fish to 40lb 8oz (18.4kg) – Congratulations!! Over in the Woods, Damien landed some good fish with a couple of good forties to 47lb 2oz (21.4kg). It has been great to see that many fish are up in weight this year. Again, the fish nearly all came to high quality fishmeal boilies and pellets and the carp are certainly thriving on these high nutritional value food baits.

Badgers Holt – Keith and Andrew had a challenge with the Badgers carp having spawning on their minds much more than feeding. However, a lot of very hard work and determination paid off with fish of 58lb (26.4kg), 51lb (23.2kg), 50lb 2oz (22.8kg), 48lb (21.8kg), 47lb (21.4kg), 46lb (21kg) & 36lb (16.4kg). Nicely done guys!

We still have two spaces on Lac Serreire for the week of 22nd August this year if anyone is interested – Please contact us for details.

Week of 9th May – 16th May:

Lac Serreire – Fished very well again with 67 carp landed despite the fact that they spawned heavily during the middle of the week as temperatures hit 32C. Paul landed 35 fish to mid-40s from the Shallows and lost almost no fish all week. Using very strong line, dropping the leads and focussing more on the right side of the swim, it was great to see so few fish lost from this swim this week. Paul fished a mixture of the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies along with Mainline boilies over areas heavily baited with Coppens pellets. The reaction of the carp to these pellets has been incredible this year.

Pete, also on the left bank had a great week landing 9 fish including mirrors of 56lb 1oz (25.5kg), 43lb (19.5kg), 41lb 8oz (18.9kg) & 40lb 8oz (18.4kg). Pete also fished the Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies over Coppens pellets.

Carl had 7 fish from the Island swim to just over 40lb (18kg) but wound rods in some of the time due to the spawning (thanks Carl). Over in the Woods; Mark and Ed had about 15 fish including a stunning 41lb 8oz (18.9kg) common and a mirrors to 47lb 8oz (21.6kg). The middle of the lake, open water, producing most of the bigger fish.

Badgers Holt – Paul & Martin had 7 carp; 2 fifties to 52lb (24kg) and 5 forties. The fish were all caught on boilies fished over Coppens pellets. The Badgers carp showed the first signs of spawning, but didn’t actually spawn last week.

It was our first week on barbless hooks and in actual fact the fewest fish of the year so far were lost. This was a very experienced group of anglers and everyone agreed that barbless hooks are of no disadvantage at all when the fish are played correctly and the lead is dropped. This is definitely the way forward for our complex. Thanks guys for a great week and also for leaving everything spotlessly clean and tidy when you left!

Week of 2nd May – 9th May:

Badgers Holt – Joop had a great week’s fishing with 9 fish landed. Best couple of fish were 52lb (24kg) and 51lb (23kg). All the fish were caught from the left side of the main swim on heavily baited fishmeal boilies fished on KD rigs over Coppens pellets.

Lac Serreire – John & Jos fished the Woods swim for about 20 fish. Best fish was a lovely 50lb (23kg) mirror caught from the lilies on the left side of the swim. All the other fish came from the right side of the swim and all were caught again on good quality fish meal baits and pellets. On the left bank, Sharky & Pete had around 7 fish including 3 PBs to 40lb (18kg).

The anglers who started yesterday had a good start with a number of runs already and fish to 41lb. Full details in next weekend’s catch report.

Week of 25th April – 2nd May:

Lac Serreire – Another excellent week with around 70 carp landed. Jamie had 39 fish from the Shallows swim including 7 forties to 49lb (22.3kg). Stefan and Jonas in the Woods swim had 21 carp including 4 fifties to 52lb 2oz (23.7kg) and 4 forties. In the Island swim Yodi had 6 fish to 42lb (19.4kg) and Alan in the Middle swim had 4 fish to upper 30s. The fish were certainly feeding heavily with many fish caught over heavily baited areas of Coppens pellets and fishmeal boilies. Again the Serreire Crayfish and Squid boilies caught a lot of fish.

Badgers Holt – Also fished well for John and Yos with 9 carp landed and only 2 of these under 44lb (20kg). Biggest fish were 61lb 10oz (28kg) and then 2 mid 50s, a low 50 and 3 fish in the mid to upper 40s. All the fish were caught on fishmeal boilies with the lads using a lot of bait throughout the week. Congratulations on the multiple new PBs!

Badgers Holt – Fished extremely well again with Erwin & Jan from Germany landing 15 fish with the following weights: 70lb 13oz (32.2kg), 45lb 2oz (20.5kg), 50lb 3oz (22.8kg), 47lb 12oz (21.7kg), 40lb 0oz (18kg), 44lb 8oz (20.2kg), 53lb 4oz (24.2kg), 48lb 7oz (22kg), 51lb 1oz (23.2kg), 45lb 2oz (20.5kg), 41lb 14oz (19kg), 40lb 0oz (18kg), 37lb 14oz (17.2kg), 37lb 7oz (17kg) & 28lb 9oz (13kg). With almost every fish over 40lb, it was a fantastic week’s fishing. All the fish except one were caught on our Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies fishing wafter hook baits over a mixture of sizes of the boilies along with Coppens pellets. The fish absolutely loved this bait combination. Congratulations on the PBs!

Lac Serreire – Another good week with around 50 carp landed. Walter and friend from Austria fished the Shallows and Middle swims landing fish up to mid 40’s (19.7kg) fishing over heavily baited areas of Coppens pellets at long range. Carl from the UK had a great week in the Island swim landing a lot of fish up to 53lb (24kg). Carl also had a number of 40s and 30s. Successful baits were a mixture of Serreire Crayfish & Squid boilies, Trigga boilies, pellets and sweetcorn. Top angling Carl!! Over on the Woods swim Trendy and Andy had fish to 40lb (18kg) fishing Trigga boilies at throwing stick range. Wayne had fish to upper 30s from the Outflow swim.

The lads on this week also had a great start with fish to 50lb (23kg) on Lac Serreire and mid 40s on Badgers Holt during their first night.

Week of 11th – 18th April:

Lac Serreire – An amazing week’s fishing for Wim and his group from The Netherlands with 90 carp landed. Best fish were the 80lb 1oz (36.4kg) complex record mirror previously reported and a 61lb 3oz (27.8kg) mirror. The top swim was the Shallows with around 50 fish. The Woods and the Island swims also fished very well with many 30s and 40s caught and PBs for 3 of the anglers. All the fish were caught on boilies with heavy baiting working very well. The carp were certainly very heavily feeding with activity everywhere around the lake.

Badgers Holt – Klaus from Germany had a his best week’s fishing ever with 23 carp landed including JoJo the mirror at an excellent weight of 72lb 13oz (33.1kg) and the big common at 60lb 12oz (27.6kg). Klaus had so many fish over 20kg (44lb) that he lost count in the end. At one time Klaus had two fish on at the same time and throughout the week managed to land every fish hooked. Top angling! Congratulations Klaus on the PB!

Many fish are up in weight so it looks like the winter feeding campaign has really paid off.

Week of 4th -11th April:

Steve Briggs, Tim Paisley along with Ian Chance and friends from the UK fished Lac Serreire. Despite bitterly cold NE winds for the first half of the week, there were around 25 carp landed up to 49lb (22.3Kg). Most of the fish came from areas close to the bank with the Shallows swim being the top swim for the week.

On Badgers Holt, Wim from The Netherlands fished the second of a two week session. Unfortunately due to the weather, no more carp were caught after those reported in last week’s catch report (during the first half of the session Wim caught mirrors of 48lb 0oz (21.8kg), 44lb 8oz (20.2kg) & 41lb 5oz (18.8kg).

The weather has now warmed up and the fish seemed to have finally started feeding properly with over 10 fish to 43lb (19.75kg) caught from Serreire in the first 24 hours of the current anglers setting up. Over on Badgers Holt, there was a lovely 38lb (17kg) common caught this morning. Full information will follow in the next catch report.
